PALO ALTO, Calif.–July 2, 2012—Apica, a leading load testing and performance monitoring provider for cloud and mobile applications, has closed a $5 million Series C financing led by SEB Venture Capital. Existing Swedish investors Industrifonden, ALMI Invest, and KTH Chalmers Capital also participated in this round and will maintain their respective shareholdings. Apica will use the funds for product development, marketing support, and expanding server and testing capacity for the company’s cloud and mobile testing and monitoring services worldwide, especially in the U.S.
“This funding will enable us to further enhance our solutions for optimizing application performance and capture a greater share of this profitable cloud services market in the U.S.,” said Sven Hammar, CEO of Apica. “SEB Venture Capital supports our vision and aggressive growth model. Along with our existing investors, SEB Venture Capital will help us strengthen Apica’s position as a leading solution provider for load testing and performance monitoring”
Apica’s WebExcellence suite of services enables organizations to test applications for maximum capacity, daily performance, improved load times and protection from peak loads. The suite includes Apica LoadTest, Apica WebPerformance, and Apica WebOverload, which was recently named Best Cloud Service by EuroCloud Europe. Apica ProxySniffer, the newest addition to Apica’s services, is a result of the company’s recent acquisition of the popular web load and stress testing tool capable of simulating more than 1 million simultaneous web users, making it one of the most powerful tools for analyzing and testing the performance and stability of large-scale web applications both internally and in the cloud.
“Apica is a well-managed company operating in a global market with a strong potential for growth,” said Patrick Westerberg, Senior Investment Manager,
SEB Venture Capital. “With a team of experienced entrepreneurs leading the company and a wide range of cloud services offered, we strongly support Apica’s expansion.”
Apica raised $2 million in Series B financing last July, led by Swedish investor Industrifonden. The financing enabled Apica’s U.S. expansion, which included the addition of Palak Patel, who joined the company as Vice President of U.S. Sales to lead these efforts. Apica has forged strategic partnerships with cloud providers, including RightScale, Rackspace, and Amazon Web Services, for the testing and monitoring of cloud environments. The company’s load testing and performance monitoring solutions are now also available within the Amazon Web Services Marketplace to optimize performance throughout the entire web experience.
